ABOUT

United Against Childhood Trauma

A 501(c)(3) coalition, headquartered in Arrington, Tennessee.

UACT exists to unite the world against childhood trauma — convening the leaders, institutions and communities required to dramatically and measurably reduce it. We set the standard the field is measured against, we point people toward healing, and we work to prevent the wound in the first place.

COALITION FOCUS

A physiological approach to societal-scale healing through standards and objective certification.

AWARENESS

HEALING

PREVENTION

This page is the short version. The full account of what we are and how we work lives in the Coalition.

OUR FOUNDER

This started with two brothers.

Michael Menard grew up one of fourteen children in Kankakee, Illinois. He lost his brothers Adam and Patrick to addiction — and spent years believing that was a story about addiction.

It was not. It was a story about what happened to them as children, and what nobody knew to call it at the time. Everything UACT does begins there.

"I did not lose my brothers to addiction. I lost them to what happened to them first."
Before this work: thirty years at Johnson & Johnson, rising to Global Vice President of Worldwide Engineering. 232 patents. Co-founder of GenSight, which advised NASA, the United Nations and Fortune 100 companies. An original signatory of the UN Global Compact.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The people accountable for this.

A founding board is being seated now. Members are named here as appointments are confirmed.

We publish who we are. A coalition that asks institutions to be accountable has to be accountable first.
AWARENESS IN THE WORLD

Getting this in front of people.

Awareness is the first pillar and the bottleneck in front of everything else. Here is how we move it.

Speaking

Michael Menard speaks to conferences, health systems, faith communities, employers and public bodies. Every talk has one job: leave the room knowing what this is, and believing it can change.
