Robert L. Briggs has worked consistently in the not-for-profit sector to launch and grow organizations and alliances, focusing on increasing impact and resourcing. His tenure extends across faith-based and broad market organizations. He has developed particular expertise in growing impact through alliances, incorporating the generosity and expertise of family offices and high-net-worth philanthropists.

Key alliances have included Every Tribe Every Nation, featuring a cohort of generous funders along with Bible translation organizations. Robert served as the founding chairman of the Steering Committee of the ETEN alliance, collaborating on the architecture for this collective impact initiative and continuing as an alliance leader for more than a decade.

Robert's most recent organizational role was serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of American Bible Society, with an annual budget of $100 million and a staff of 175. His role incorporated a seat on the organization's Board of Directors. Over a 23-year tenure with the organization, his senior executive roles ranged across marketing, ministry, and fund raising. He also provided oversight to the launch and operation of two subsidiary organizations, the Museum of Biblical Art and the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He now enters his next season as co-founder and partner with Alliance Practice, LLC, with a concentration on growing organizations focused on trauma intervention in the United States and worldwide. This work emerges from his recognition of the through-line from trauma to multiple social ills including deaths by despair, gun violence, racial injustice, and gender violence. The Alliance Practice works with clients that integrate current breakthroughs in brain science, genetics, and technology to increase the reach of proven interventions, thereby disrupting the relentless effects of adverse childhood, teen, and adult experiences that qualify as trauma.

Robert's background also includes 9 years in executive roles with American Diabetes Association, 6 years as President of Cityhill Publishing, and stints in daily journalism and public relations.

Robert has served as a member of the Board of Directors for United Bible Societies, an alliance of some 130 national organizations representing 200 nations, the second-most extensive international infrastructure next to the United Nations.

Robert lives with Susan, his wife of 46 years, in Philadelphia. He supports Susan's work as a counselor and an artist, including her launch of Dust To Dawn Pottery, offering an unusual integration of home décor ceramics and art therapy- related experiences. They have been blessed with five children and six grandchildren. Robert and Susan are members of City Life Church in South Philadelphia and are engaged in launching a community development enterprise in the Southwest neighborhood of the city.
